In the “Mother Tongue” by Amy Tan, the author uses the literary technics of flashback to describe her mother’s rough experiences of speaking so-called “limited English” in her daily life and receiving different kinds of racial discriminations because of the lack of the ability of speaking fluent English. However , her mother never stop doing that by the influences of despisement from others , what’s more, this kind of unmoved  spirit comes from her mother makes the author realize that he should not give up the dream of being a writer since her mother is a good example to support her to fight against the challenges . in some ways, the author wants to show us that we should understand and respect those who speak different languages from you cannot speak fluent language you speak.

We all know that each place has its own way of supporting its own inhabitants, in the words, it suggests that different people from different places has his or her own habits of doing something by the rule. We may have different point of views toward one single same object, and we may have different traditional custom, surely we may speak completely different languages in daily life. Tan’s mother receives the unequal treatment from other s because she speaks “broken English” to communicate with others. For example, the doctor is not responsible for losing her CAT scan; the people who work in the restaurant pretend not to understand what her says. However her mother never stop trying to expressing her own opinions, and this tough determination encourages Tan to keep struggling with her own hard times, which her boss tells her could not be a writer. In the end of the passage, the author makes her dream of being a writer come true with the help of her mother, because the willpower is passed down to Tan from her mother and makes her get a realization that she should be as unshakeable as her mother like her mother struggle her personal experience of speaking English, that is how help Tan’ shape her own personality and identity, she becomes more independent than before and bravely face and deal with her own situation of being a writer, she learn this directly from her mother, so that her mother plays a important as well as essential part in her  processing of being a successful writer today, in the other side , Tan’s mother herself sets a good example to the Author as I mention before, she leads Tan walk out the shadow of the obstacles from her boss that she could not be writer. Tan’s main point is that people should not make a verdict for others according to the their background of language, what ‘s more we should not feel discouraged from someone’s judgments toward you., just be yourself on the way, because we are all totally different and express our own opinions by using different languages we learnt.
