Illegal immigration drills a hole on the
bottom of economy
In
the article “America Must Take Stronger Measures to Halt Illegal immigration”
by Michael Scott, it analytically demonstrates that neither the local police nor Los Angeles Immigration
and Naturalization Service (INS) shows much concern about the flows of illegal
immigration (Michael 1), this
may causes the gradually increasing illegal immigrants to steal into America,
so the author eagerly appeals to the government for rigorous measures against
the activity of illegal immigration. He also points out that the great amount
of illegal immigrants all apply for health care, social welfare, and food
stamps so on, illegal immigrant
students educate at a high cost to the taxpayers annually, all of these gradually
make the horrendous social costs just keep rising ceaselessly.( Michael 4). And I also strongly agree
with this idea, because there are lots of supportive evidences show author’s
point of view and back author’s standpoint.
Government pays high social
costs to illegal immigrants’ living. There are continuously huge amount of
illegal immigrants crossing the border of America yearly, the author states
that those people illegally come for the purpose of better living condition,
actually they work in the worst environment condition all of us. So the illegal
immigrants begin to apply for all kinds of social welfare to support their
daily life, such as Health Care, Food Stamps, retirement pension and so on. And their
children’ costs of births and education are also covered by government.
According to the article, it definitely points out that the state of California
pay about $2.2 billon to educate the illegal immigrant K-12 students annually,
and that money comes from its taxpayers, so we now can guess how much payment
should America’s government of 50 states budget for education program yearly,
it is approximately 100 billion! What’s more, taxpayers subsidize 96000 illegal
immigrants births in statewide county hospital at yearly cost of $352 million,
the food stamps yearly cost of $552 million for new born citizen children, $577
million cost to incarcerate those illegal alien felons, finally plus yearly $60
million health care cost for all kinds of services, so it makes government pay
high cost for illegal immigrants instead of getting benefit from them
By looking at the above
information, illegal immigrants act as if a termite bites out a hole on the
bottom of wooden economy, which make a terrible role in the development of
economy. So like Michael Scott says, America should unhesitatingly takes
measures to strengthen its border enforcement to stop the flows of illegal
immigrants and enforce immigration laws to prosecute those employers who hire
illegal immigrants,
In conclusion, the illegal
immigration makes a negative role in American economic development. Government
has got to pay huge amount of costs for most of them. Therefore we should
strongly appeal to government to take more measures to control the illegal
immigration to improve its development of economy.
